ALDERNEY residents and serving States members looked forward to a new spirit of cooperation within the island’s government following the weekend’s elections.
The results saw a major shake-up in the States with the departure of three committee chairmen and one representative for Guernsey’s States.
General Services chairman Bill Walden and Alderney representative Boyd Kelly were not re-elected, while Policy and Finance and Building and Development Control Committee chairmen John Beaman and Geoffrey Sargent decided not to stand.
The new members elected were landlord Louis Jean, former banker Neil Harvey, artist and print-maker Chris Rowley, financial consultant Robert McDowall and estate agent Francis Simonet.
Louis Jean, pictured, who served as a States member from 1991 to 2000, topped the poll with 613 votes. Mr Harvey came second with 532 votes. A total of 818 ballot papers were issued and the turnout was 73%.
