THREE former Sark residents have been named by the Guardian as part of its investigation into a ‘global network of sham company directors’.

The newspaper claimed that former Channel Islanders scattered around the world to continue their Sark Lark operations, following the introduction of legislation in the Bailiwick to stop the practice.

It named Jesse Hester, half-brother of Olympic dressage gold medallist Carl, as one of those ‘taking money to disguise the ownership of thousands of companies’.

Former Sark residents Sarah and Edward Petre-Mears left the island more than a decade ago. It is understood that they moved just after Guernsey introduced a fiduciary licensing regime in 2000.

Yesterday, they appeared on The Guardian’s front page after the paper claimed the couple ‘controlled’ more than 2,277 companies from their new home in the Caribbean island of Nevis.
