The States meets to discuss this year’s controversial Budget this week, and ahead of that meeting we’ll have an interview with Treasury minister Gavin St Pier, pictured, in tomorrow’s Press.
In particular we’ll be getting more reaction to him on the proposals for the ending of tax relief on mortgage interest, the amendment by Deputy Matt Fallaize and Treasury changing its mind over presenting the plans this year.
We’ll also have a short report tomorrow on the inquest into the tragic death of motorcyclist Joseph Manning last week. We’re not expecting it to reach a conclusion today, but we will have a summary of what is said at the hearing.
The ice rink in Market Square opens tonight, and after the winners of a Guernsey Press GP Ted competition have their turn, it will be opened to everyone. We’ll have a picture and story from its first night.
And we’re preparing another report on the plans for a new development at Coupee Lane in St Peter Port, asking the local National Trust for their views on the application for seven new flats to be built on the site in addition to the 10 approved last year.
Tomorrow’s sports pages will have the name of the next team to face Guernsey FC in the FA Vase, following their victory over Erith and Belvedere at Footes Lane on Saturday.
And the new full time Director of Guernsey Cricket will also be named tomorrow, following the announcement of his appointment today.
There’ll also be a feature on Guernsey’s Abbotts family and their involvement in the local netball scene.
