IT HAS taken three months and thousands of lights, but a magical Christmas has finally arrived for one islander, who is already preparing for next year’s display.

Since September, Dave Baker has spent in excess of £10,000 decorating his home at Rue des Pointues Rocques, St Sampson’s, with an estimated 80,000 lights and a vast collection of decorations.

But he is now looking forward to dreaming up ideas for the festive season of 2013.

‘I have to start thinking about next year now,’ he said. ‘I will start planning it in January.

‘I just love Christmas. I have been doing this for 20 years. I always start early because, as you can imagine, if you are trying to put a phenomenal amount up, it takes time.

‘I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, so this is my passion.’
