A RECORD number of islanders dressed up as Santa Claus yesterday for an annual fundraiser.

More than 500 adults and children took part in the Aid Reaching Children event, where they ran from Pembroke to the Town Church.

It was a cold morning but the budding Santas were warmed up by dancing Gangnam Style before beginning their challenge.

Aid Reaching Children director Linda Garnham said the event would raise vital funds for the charity.

‘This is the eighth year that we have done this,’ she said. ‘We have a record number of people taking part this time.’
