A WEST coast hotel owner has promised never to let it return to its former lodging house days.

Joao Freitas has spent £400,000 refurbishing the former Atlantique Hotel – now to be known as Perelle Bay Hotel – after a fire ripped through the laundry room and office in June.

The name change comes as Mr Freitas and wife Gundega look to get rid of its former reputation.

It will reopen next week following what has been a tough six months for the couple.

The establishment currently has 14 rooms ready, with another 10 being refurbished by the end of March.
