ENVIRONMENT has admitted an embarrassing mistake in its handling of the prestigious Admiral Park development.

The department’s planners failed to spot that they were using an out-of-date planning brief when assessing a proposed multi-million pound development that includes substantial office space and a cinema.

A statement placed on the States website – but not circulated to the media – confirmed the error, which means that all those involved now have to resubmit their justification for the development going ahead or their reason for opposing it.

Planners recommended that the proposal should be approved and it was due to be discussed by the board at an open planning meeting last month before mysteriously being pulled from the agenda .

Have any of you ever complained to the States? Perhaps you ought to write letters to them as, you never know, they may be willing to act on your idea. I sincerely believe that the comments on these forums ought to be analysed and evaluated during routine political business and during the occasional decision-making exercises in order to make more informed, judicious decisions when considering to embark on fresh enterprises.
