THE 2012 Guernsey Golf Union golfer of the year is targeting a career as a professional footballer.

James Hamon’s general ambition is to make a living from either sport, but right now he is focusing on his goalkeeping rather than his pitching and putting.

‘Hopefully I’m looking to get away again in January or February,’ said the 17-year-old, who has previously had trials with Southampton.

‘It is still open – I am still looking for offers,’ added Hamon, who admitted that he wants to start afresh rather than return to the Saints.

‘I’d rather wipe the slate clean and start over again.’
