Poor visibility mars Christmas Day dive

DIVERS took up a once-a-year opportunity to venture under the water in St Peter Port Harbour, although bad visibility meant there were no significant finds.
It is the only day in the year when diving is allowed in the area because there is no commercial shipping.
It was estimated that 30 people went in.
Craig Collins, 30, took part with Dive Guernsey and it was the second year he had attempted the Christmas dive.
‘There was about three metres’ visibility, but it is more about just taking part,’ he said.

Ecropudding, this is a very good point, it is also a very good idea, I don’t drive but I’d love to see something like this happen for those who would take up the opportunity to do so :)

This is ridiculous and a non starter. You really think after spending over 80 million that they would let some old bangers on there. Having to clear up spilt oil and petrol that will imediately ruin the new surafce and rubber from tyres and any other debris falling off all those old heaps. Maybe an professional F1 team may be able to do a display there but not some back street, hillbilly kev that has sellotaped a few bits of tat to his golf… They arent going to risk invalidating insurance should a plains tyres bust because of damage to the runway or a bit of crap that went unseen gets sucked up in to a jet engine.

They could make a £10 charge to cover Insurance and have time trials, could become a good morning out, with a good viewing area.
