Deputy wants chief minister to spell out FTP savings

THE credibility of the States £31m. cost-cutting programme is being called into question amid concerns over how the savings are being made.
Peter Gillson has called for answers directly from Chief Minister Peter Harwood to clarify exactly how departments are meeting their annual Financial Transformation Programme targets.
Deputy Gillson claimed he had even heard that some of the FTP savings were one-off measures rather than recurring savings, undermining the entire scheme.
But an FTP spokesman denied that was the case and reiterated that all savings would continue to be made year-on-year.
Despite these reassurances, another deputy, Barry Brehaut, said it was a combination of budgetary pressures and the FTP targets pushing some departments to consider drastic action.

It is public money – the public have a right to know. The more this goes on the more farcical it gets.
Why is not published? Or is it, and they cannot understand it? Surely not.

I’m aware of a number of one-off “savings” (basically cuts) due to the pressure to meet unrealistic financial ftp targets that have been plucked from thin air and all the while these consultants are reaping a 6% fee reward for doing nothing.
Total shambles!
