Military charities to benefit from Yuletide Yomp
Monday 31st December 2012, 3:00PM GMT.
SERVING and retired military personnel walked 13 miles on Saturday as they took part in the annual Yuletide Yomp.
The walk, which is in its fourth year, raised money for Help for Heroes and the Army Benevolent Fund.
Although the collections have yet to be counted, Channel Island Help for Heroes co-ordinator Pete Burtenshaw said it was clear the event had been a success.
‘We have done pretty well,’ he said.
‘I would like to thank the public, who have again been wonderful. We made good time as well despite the weather being pretty bad. Everyone is in high spirits and we have had no casualties.’
