ALDERNEY wants to put aside £700,000 for work on its Commercial Quay but has hinted at legal action to try and recover some of the costs.
The States will debate a report that recommends Mackley Construction be awarded a contract to repair part of the rock revetment that was constructed when the quay was renovated between 2008 and 2011.
That original project cost more than £12m., about £2.6m. over budget.
The latest work is £200,000 more than put aside in past budgets.
In the Billet d’Etat, Policy and Finance Committee chairman John Beaman said that the quay was a strategic asset to Alderney as it was the only location for handling heavy cargo and oil products.

Legal action, err, against whom?
Please correct me if I am incorrect in my understanding; that we, our Island of Guernsey States were offered a choice at one time of, buying a helicopter, or continuing to maintain, at disasterous ongoing cost, this overwhelmingy, ever maintained, but still crumbling, out of date (even then)granite structure.
