UTILITY companies have been accused of failing to work together on road closures after JT announced it was to shut Gibauderie.

The St Peter Port road was closed last year to enable Guernsey Water to carry out mains repairs.

Now it will be closed again from 10 to 31 January in sections.

The news has angered one resident who felt that the two utilities could have shared one closure, reducing the disruption.

Sarah Griffith contacted both JT and Guernsey Water and has become concerned about whether utilities were working together.

JT is closing the road as part of its investment to extend its fibre network, which it said would deliver improved services.

Engineering manager Kevan Marquand denied that there was a lack of cooperation.

When you look at the way the van is parked in this photo it quite clear why the road is closed. So why the silly question perhaps Hati and Shri Lanka are all ok now so we need a Bridge to go over Gibauderie.

I have to say that your post is very silly and immature. Sarah and her team work tirelessly on behalf of ‘Bridge’ and to belittle it in this way is so ignorant.

I don’t think Sarah, with her high profile made a right move in going public with frustration over Gibauderie, Guernsey utilities are renowned for not having the ability to work together, most of us have suffered from this at some time, kept going and got it.
