PEOPLE living near Barker’s Quarry were given reassurances last night about the impact of a major construction project aimed at improving water collection.
Contractor Geomarine, on behalf of Guernsey Water, will be carrying out the work as the tank, which collects water from the Marais and La Vrangue streams, is considered too small.
They will build a larger tank to join the existing one and install extra and bigger pumps so more water can be sent to the Longue Hougue Reservoir.
Work on the project begins on Monday, but people living nearby were yesterday given the chance to find out more and raise any concerns at a public drop-in session.
