Newsroom Live – 8 January, 2013

News of CT Plus’ bus drivers working to rule from Monday has hit the front page today, and we’ll have more on this in tomorrow’s Press.

There’s talk of a possible strike, too, if the drivers’ concerns over working hours and pay are not resolved.

We’ll be getting comments from the Bus Users Group about the issue, and also looking into reports that several buses were cancelled this morning.

And in the wake of yesterday’s story about the possibility of wind turbines off the north coast, we’ll be looking at how individual householders could generate some of their own power.

The ice rink in Market Square has closed and today it will be removed after a successful season. We’re getting a photo of the work, as well as talking to the organisers about their idea of moving the rink to a larger location if it returns next year.

We’ll be getting in touch with the Public Services Department about the continuing problem of potholes in coastal car parks, and talking to the Phoenix Roller Skating Club about their efforts to raise funds.

In the sports section tomorrow there’s a closer look at local runners’ great success in the recent Hampshire Cross Country championships, including a feature on footballing fireman Dale Garland, who still harbours Commonwealth Games ambitions.

And there’s a look ahead to tomorrow nights’ Priaulx League match between Bels and Vale Rec.

good luck with the work to rule lads and lasses.please dont crumble.CT plus have come to the island thinking they can ride roughshod over you all just like they do in the uk. Some of their ideas on running a bus service are little short of a joke. Dont be intimidated.
