Sports Commission idea is copied to run Youth Service

A NEW ‘youth commission’ will save Education roughly £50,000 a year while improving services for young people, minister Robert Sillars has said.
An agreement, struck between the department and the Youth Partnership for Guernsey and Alderney, will now mean youth services will be delivered solely by the partnership.
The YPGA will in turn receive a grant from Education, which used to run the service in-house.
Deputy Sillars said the department used to set aside around £600,000 a year for the Youth Service but will now provide a grant of £550,000.
This grant will include all staff costs for all the current Youth Service staff, who will be seconded to the YPGA.
