Temporary use of former vinery site has gone on too long – neighbours

FRUSTRATED neighbours are pleading with the Environment Department not to extend the Fontaine Vinery’s change of use application for a third time.

The former glasshouse site was divided up into light industrial compounds for ‘Fred-in-the-shed’ businesses in about 2007 and was given temporary planning permission for this use.

An extension was applied for successfully in 2009 and now States Property Services has applied for a further extension.

Neighbours have said they are fed up with the extra noise and traffic the site generates and object to the plans.

…you better hope the Housing Association don’t have their eye on it, then the ‘temporary’ will become permanent and Freds in Sheds will be housing.

So glad it’s a level playing field with the planning rules over here, n’est pas…? ;)

a sheaf of correspondence? looks like 4 letters to me. not too bad given that the issue first arose more than 5 years ago.

Did anyone REALLY believe that this site, once agreed as a “temporary” site, would ever become a permanent site?
It was always their intention to keep it and expand it by working the system.
It`s the way States Departments work around planning permissions.

a voter, I could not agree more, we are seeing this more and more with the states, one law for them and one for us, it used to be a vinery I believe, well it should by right then be returned to agricultural land if I am right in thinking. So how come it is what it is now. ? They will do what they like, so the poor neighbours I expect you will have that eyesore of a sight for ever
