Law needed to make price displays clearer
Wednesday 16th January 2013, 1:00PM GMT.
THE Commerce and Employment Department is looking to introduce a law to ensure all price displays are clear, unambiguous and correct.
Deputy chief trading standards officer Richard Carr said there was currently no legislation in Guernsey that gave Trading Standards the power to take action over price display signs that might mislead the buyer.
He was speaking on the day that Le Mont Saint Garage proprietor Dave Beausire, pictured, said some garage forecourts were displaying petrol prices that reflected only loyalty offers and not the cash price.
Trev’s Motorcycles joint owner Trevor Hockey said advertising with loyalty card discounts and the likes was widespread in Guernsey.
