A social worker fell on to the lap of a policeman at a work-related training course before being arrested for drink-driving, an employment tribunal was told.

Yesterday’s hearing heard how civil servant Alison Littlejones was suspended and later sacked by the States after she drove to the course at the police station while over the legal limit.

Miss Littlejones claimed she was dismissed unfairly, citing her belief that her employer should have provided more support for the alcohol problem she had.

The hearing heard how Miss Littlejones had not appealed against the dismissal internally because she said she did not have faith that it was worthwhile.
