Grammar team enjoy superheroic speaking success

SPIDERMAN, Superman and Wolverine helped the senior Grammar School team to win this year’s Rotary Club Youth Speaks competition.
The team’s winning subject, Into the Batcave, stemmed from two members’ love of comic book characters, but also focused on the deeper message of role models.
The public-speaking competition was again sponsored by law firm Mourant Ozannes and was open to all secondary schools and the College of Further Education.
There were two classes – up to 16 and up to 18 – and seven teams took part.
Each had to make a six-minute presentation to the St James audience.
Chairman of the adjudicators, Graeme Beebee, said this year’s standard had been very high.
