Islanders help to search for missing woman

A HUGE search operation involving police, Civil Protection and members of the public was launched yesterday as concern grew for the welfare of a missing 54-year-old woman.

Gillian Sarahs, pictured, was last seen at 6.15pm at her Victoria Avenue home on Friday. She is yet to be found.

Police officers and Civil Protection volunteers searched around Victoria Avenue, L’Ancresse, Bordeaux and Belle Greve Bay on Saturday but stepped up the hunt yesterday.

Guernsey Police invited civilians to help look for the Waitrose employee after receiving offers on its Facebook page. They posted details of how to get involved.

  • Mrs Sarahs has blonde hair, a fair complexion, is five feet and four inches tall and of a slim build. It is believed that she could be wearing a green knee-length coat, which is quite thick with a grey fur trim.
