As the search continues today for missing woman Gillian Sarahs, who was reported missing early on Saturday morning, we will be keeping in close contact with Guernsey Police on their progress.

The search has been focused in the north and east of the island and has involved many volunteers. Mrs Sarahs has blonde hair, a fair complexion, is five feet and four inches tall and of a slim build. It is believed that she could be wearing a green knee-length coat, which is quite thick with a grey fur trim.

There was a power cut in the Bridge area at about 6.30 this morning which lasted at least a couple of hours. We’ll be finding out the extent of the cut and what caused it today and will have a report tomorrow.

Sark’s new Seneschal is due to be sworn in this morning. Jeremy La Trobe-Bateman will take the oath of office in Guernsey’s Royal Court and we’ll have a report and pictures in tomorrow’s Press.

States deputies face a grilling from young islanders today, as the Grammar School holds its annual deputies’ forum, where students are given the chance to quiz States members face to face. We’ll be there too to hear what issues are raised.

We’ll also be meeting three women who will be donating some of their hair to make wigs for cancer sufferers, going to see who wins a public speaking competition at the Ladies’ College, and catching up with Aindre Reece-Sheerin, who is currently training for a swim to Herm.

Tomorrow’s sports section will include a report on efforts being made by Deputy Darren Duquemin to find a short and long-term solution to the problems with Foote’s Lane pitch, which has been waterlogged several times this season.

There’ll be a report on table tennis player Alice Loveridge’s first Grand Prix victory at Doncaster over the weekend, and on local snooker ace Martyn Desperques’ first defeat of the winter.
