Police want speed limit cut to 25 in Summerfield Road

SUMMERFIELD Road’s speed limit could be cut to 25mph, if the Environment Department follows Guernsey Police’s recommendations.

Seven-year-old Mai-Lea Falla was killed by a quad bike while crossing the road in November.

Guernsey Police traffic sergeant John Tostevin, pictured, said the new limit would ideally run from the Rue Flere junction, along Summerfield Road, to the junction with Vale Avenue.

He also wants to see the 35mph along Route des Coutures – which runs up to Vale School – reduced to 25mph.

Sergeant Tostevin has had informal discussions with the Environment Department, which is in charge of traffic management, but no official correspondence has taken place yet.
