Olympic gold medal winner Carl Hester is the Guiton Ambassador of the Year for 2012.

He was chosen from a final shortlist which also included bowler Alison Merrien, and the international award-winning St Martin’s Floral Guernsey Group.

Mr Hester, pictured, won gold in the team dressage competition at the London Olympics, and his protege Charlotte Dujardin took the gold in the solo freestyle competition.

Hundreds of guests were at Beau Sejour for tonight’s announcement, which also included the presentation of the Specasvers Unsung Hero award and many awards for local businesses.
