Now that plans for the future of Guernsey’s main ports have been revealed, today we’ll be getting reaction to them.
We’ll be asking commuters about the possible loss of spaces at North Beach, and the suggestion that a multi-storey car park could be built, talking to fishermen about the possible enhancement of the fish quay and asking environmentalists for their comments on the idea of a deep water berth off Longue Hougue.
Tonight sees the annual Awards for Achievement presentations at Beau Sejour, and tomorrow we’ll have a report on which individuals won the titles of Ambassador of the year and Unsung Hero of the Year, as well as details of the businesses that received awards.
Also taking place at Beau Sejour tonight, starting at 7pm, is Culture and Leisure’s discussion with the public of a Guernsey French strategy. We’ll have a report in tomorrow’s Press.
We’ll be trying to find out more about what caused the fire at a builder’s store in Alderney, as well as the electrical fire in a property at Upper Mansell Street, St Peter Port, last night.
Blue Islands launches its direct flights to Amsterdam today, and we’ve got a reporter on board the inaugural flight who will be filing something for the news pages tomorrow as well as preparing a longer article to be published shortly. He’ll also be asking the airline about why it has withdrawn its application to offer flights on the Bristol route.
Tomorrow’s sports pages include an interview with Guernsey netball captain Nena Copperwaite ahead of the weekend’s game against the Royal Navy, a look ahead to the Guernsey mens’ hockey team’s latest match in the HA Trophy competition, and more information on Guernsey FC’s FA Vase tie with Spalding on Saturday.
