COMMUNITY awareness and fundraising were the main aims of the Guernsey Cheshire Home Pancake Day sale yesterday.
This was the third year the charity, which provides individual care and support for adults living with severe physical disabilities, has run the event and after last year’s stint in Market Square, it moved indoors to the Town Church.
Chefs from some of the island’s top hotels cooked the traditional pre-Lenten feast in surroundings more sparse than they are used to.
By midday more than 100 pancakes had been sold and, with a raffle and cake sale raising money too, care staff team member Jimmy Ozanne said the hope was for record sales. ‘We are hoping to take over £1,000. Last year we raised £700 and it is already getting busy today.’
