‘How could thief stoop so low?’
Wednesday 13th February 2013, 8:30AM GMT.
THIEVES have stolen two charity boxes from St Martin’s Medical Centre.
Volunteers lambasted the theft, questioning how anyone could ‘stoop so low’ as to steal from charities.
The containers were taken during the centre’s opening hours either on Wednesday 6 or Thursday 7 February.
Two full ones for Les Bourgs Hospice and the Pink Ladies were switched with two empty boxes from the same charities.
Jack Honeybill, chairman of the Friends of Les Bourgs Hospice, was extremely disappointed that someone would deliberately target not one, but two, charity containers.
Amanda Brown, co-founder of the Pink Ladies, was concerned that the theft – something which she said was happening increasingly – could have wider implications for all charities that use collection boxes across the island.
