KEYS to the harbour’s new 240-tonne crane will be handed over today, the harbour master has said.
But Captain Peter Gill said staff would spend a week training with the new equipment under the eyes of its manufacturer, Gottwald, before using it for regular port operations.
‘Our staff have visited the factory and have practised on a smaller crane, but they’ve never used it with Guernsey Stevedores,’ he said.
‘The whole system we work has to be proven before we can bring it into operation.’

Hmmm
The hospital staff ( the actual coal face staff as opposed to the several layers of management I mean )had a week’s training on their amazing new computer system and then it refused to pay out their wages
There could be trouble ahead

I wonder how long these new cranes will be in commission before lack of maintenance will see the first failures.
Not long I`ll bet.

I would like to have a ‘go’ and, suggest an open day when we all can experience this high rise effect.
Hope it will be painted pale blue :-)))

No doubt it is going to be the same as SAP in schools.
Just log on to the Bridge and all will be explained. Watch this helpful video…
Oops, sorry forgot that teachers don’t have access to the Bridge.
Never mind the clever people in the IT unit are working on it.
Oops sorry they are all on annual leave until 1st March.

I bet Patrick Rice is scratching his head with the view of the eastern landscape or maybe his committee has already installed a huge cctv camera on top of rig.
A ROOM WITH A VIEW.
