A DIVER escaped being swept out to sea yesterday after his dive boat severed his surface marker buoy, a harbour official said.
The official said the diver had been in ‘grave’ danger and had been very fortunate.
Calls for assistance were received at about 12.30pm yesterday from the Grey Dawn, which had been accompanying a diver near Fermain Bay.
The harbour office spokesman said that the boat had run over the marker buoy – usually attached to a diver by a line to mark their position in the water – thereby severing it.
