Housing ‘right to crack down’ on those who abuse system

A BUSINESSMAN whose company has been responsible for bringing 14,000 guest workers over 25 years to the island has backed Housing’s crackdown on those who abuse the system.

Stan Brouard Group managing director Rodney Brouard, who also acts as an employment agency for foreign workers, said the rules must be respected.

‘People have got to stick to the rules and I think employers should be hammered if they don’t,’ he said.

Mr Brouard, pictured, said he always kept Housing fully informed of all workers he brought over and the rules were there to keep control of the population.

exactly !..and what i’ve been trying to say..outside labour is welcome (they are needed),but respect our “house”, abide by the requirements and conditions, and yes, employers should be hammered if things are not as should be.Infact some countries, especialy Scandinavia, have such a tight system in place, employers live in fear of being caught, trying to employ people on the black, and paying pitance salaries.Caution…we should not forget, there is a great diference, between the general public being asked to inform (grass),and the employer keeping the Housing dept, fully informed.
