I wonder how much of this damage is as a result of there now being so many of these large heavy 4x4 (type) vehicles on Guernsey's roads. It certainly can't be helping.

Marty,
just a couple of points which might help.. the roads and their condition is the responsibility of the Public Services Department, hence the recent statement from its minister outlining the current project for urgent repairs to potholes etc.

It may also be that the lane in St Saviours was in desperate need of repair so that it didn't a) flood due to failing drainage gullies or b) break up to a point where even costlier and more time consuming repairs needed to be undertaken.

Do you honestly believe that PSD look for pointless projects to use their very limited budgets on?

Are you a qualified road engineer by the way... nah, didn't think so.

Of course if harness systems were used to provide worker security there might be a greatly reduced need for expensive scaffold clutter.

Who cares about the kerbs in Hauteville - its the rest of the roads that need sorting out
They are in the worst state I have ever seen them.
Although the wet winter hasn't helped it is interesting that the Lagan tractor routes are the worst despite being told by our traffic 'experts' that there would be no damage caused by them. Look at Le Val de Terres and Grande Rue in St Martins - terrible state. Why aren't Environment doing something about it?
And can someone in high places explain why a tiny lane in St Saviours that does not serve any property and is used probably once a month has been closed for weeks whilst it is being re-built? This is an appalling waste of our money and its not the first time that a lot of money has been spent on roads that just don't need repairing - dreadful situation!

Mr Le Moignan the whole of the Towns kerbs and pavements need looking at.

As I have mentioned before …if someone trips and hurts themselves the States could end up with a very large insurance claim on their hands.

Will this be the property owner's responsibility to make good any damage then?
