Pilots’ union reps talk to Flybe in bid to save jobs

PILOT union representatives are examining Flybe’s case for job losses to make sure there is a genuine need, the British Airline Pilots’ Association has said.

The association confirmed it was in talks with the airline and signalled its determination to avoid compulsory redundancies.

News broke earlier this month that 18 of Flybe’s Guernsey-based staff were under threat.

Of these, seven are captains, it is understood.

In a statement, Balpa said: ‘Flybe has announced 88 pilot redundancies across the company, including Guernsey.  Whilst a number of pilots have been placed “at risk”, no dismissals will take place until the consultation process has finished. ‘
