ENVIRONMENTAL Health is treating a rat infestation near the former Hotel les Carterets that is likely to take several days to clear.
It is also urging any residents to get in touch if their Cobo properties become overrun so that treatment can be arranged.
Health and Social Services, which is responsible for Environmental Health, responded following the news that one family, including three children, had been forced to move out of their home, next to Hotel les Carterets, due to the rodent problem.
Other Carteret Mews residents living next to the former hotel, which has been demolished to make way for housing, also believe rats have got into the walls and roofs of their flats.
HSSD yesterday outlined the ‘rapid’ action it had taken since being made aware of the problem on Friday and insisted that it had not advised the family to leave.
Carterets Developments denied any link between the infestation and its site.

Maybe it might be a good idea to hold a car boot sale for all the rats. When they leave the premises, change the locks!

Could it have anything to do with the ‘recycling’ centre nearby?
