AN INVESTIGATION is being carried out by the Health and Safety Executive after an engineer was struck on the head by a falling metal bar.

The AFM employee was working in the tank room at Beau Sejour on Monday when he was injured and had to be taken to hospital.

HSE, which is part of Commerce and Employment, said it was made aware of the accident by the police.

‘An inspector attended the scene of the accident to investigate the circumstances, which is the normal procedure when reports of this nature are made to HSE,’ a spokesperson said.

‘The inspector examined the site and spoke with witnesses. As the investigation is continuing, we cannot comment further.’

AFM said it was investigating the accident as well.
