A FLY-TIPPER who dumped a washing machine in a popular area of St Martin’s will be prosecuted if traced, the douzaine has warned.
The unsightly object was discarded near the abreuveur – a place for cattle to drink – at Le Becquet over the weekend.
And St Martin’s junior constable Gerry Tattersall confirmed enquiries were being made to identify the owner.
‘It is a Hotpoint machine,’ he said. ‘If we find out who did it, we will take them to court.
‘It is completely anti-social and unnecessary in a place like Guernsey, where you have got a number of facilities for getting rid of such items.’

Disgraceful people fly tipping in our parish. There must be a serial number on it to find out who purchased this machine.Everything seems to be registered this day and age.
Its good to see the right man Mr Peter Garnham taking a close look at it being a former engineer of this type of machine.

correction,John Garnham not Peter Garnham

Why assume that it was the former owner who dumped it?
Maybe it was the guy paid to take it away?

this was done by a moron, just take the number of machine and the shop who sold it will tell you who it was to ,you just need to ask all the shops who sell washing machines.its not that hard to work out.

People are such idiots!
What is the purpose of this?
People are so lazy and ignorant. This seriously frustrates me. Complete lack of respect for the island!

It could be relocated to Saints Bay and used as a crash barrier.

I say we round up a few dead washing machines, arrange for some welding and grinding, and make Guernsey’s very own “WEEE Man” to encourage recycling.
Make it animated just for lulz, that would be hilarious to see down at Longue Hougue and for public events such as the Via Marche.

Why are people doing this. We have enough places to tip our rubbish or even the bulk refuse scheme. I live in town and suddenly someone has been tipping rubbish outside the flats where I live. Luckily through the Constables of St Peter Port this was all removed yesterday. This morning, however, I noticed when I came outside someone has already started dumping more rubbish there. Absolutely disgusting!!

What i dont understand is why dump it when its free to take down to recycling at bulwer avenue?

My guess is they’re either ignorant, lazy or just plain antisocial….or a combination of the three.

Even if they trace the original owner, that proves nothing. It could have been sold many times over to other random individuals. Haven’t the police something better to do with their time?
