AN AWARD-WINNING director, writer and producer who attended Elizabeth College has completed shooting on his first-ever feature film.
Simon Blake is returning to Guernsey next week for a preview screening of the haunting psychological thriller called Still, which he has directed with a cast led by Game of Thrones and The Wire star Aidan Gillen.
Mr Blake and his team still need to raise the last £100,000 for the editing and post-production of the independent film, which also stars Elodie Yung, from The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and Royal Shakespeare Company actor Jonathan Slinger.
But the 48-year-old father-of-one hopes that the film can be finished in time to be submitted for this year’s prestigious Cannes Film Festival.

Holy Mary mother of Jesus! I love Game of thrones. That must be the most memorable experience of your life to work with and direct “the little finger” and Ned Stark. Both those guys have starred in amazing films/shows and I wish Mr Blake all the luck in the world in raising the money to get the editing done in time for cannes. If I had £100K to spare I’d invest it in the movie.

Hey Sarnia, you don’t need £100k to get involved, we’re open to investment at any level from £1k upwards. This is a truly independent British Film, financed entirely by people with passion, vision and a capacity to step outside the norm and get involved in something big and different.
We have high hopes for STILL and so far we’ve not been disappointed.
Looking forward to bringing it to Guernsey and meeting Simon’s school network.

Sarnia, i know exactly how you feel!
I hope they cast children/people from Guernsey for extras. It’s a shame that there has been such a delay in the filming of the potato peel society. There is so much acting talent here and not many opportunities like this.
