A GRANDFATHER who helped to bring the craze of skateboarding to Guernsey in the 1960s has hailed the island’s new state-of-the-art park.
Terry Le Pelley visited the under-construction facility yesterday, nearly 50 years after introducing ‘sidewalk surfing’ to Guernsey with his friends.
The 67-year-old said they spotted the Californian craze in magazines and photographs all those years ago, but could never have known it would end up the worldwide professional sport it later became.
Now nearly 50 years on, Mr Le Pelley is delighted to see a state-of-the-art facility being built near Beau Sejour for a new generation of skaters.
