Three stories in particular will be featuring heavily in the newsroom’s activities today.

The announcement that the Scrutiny Committee is to investigate the AFR affair is sure to attract comment from States members and others and we’ll be contacting people during the day to hear their views.

We’ll also be getting reaction to the news that the local branch of HMV has gone into administration, although it is continuing to trade normally.

And our sports page story of a new hill climb course in St Saviour’s will be followed up too, with the news team talking to parish officials and residents in the area while the sports department will be getting the reactions of racing drivers.

Tonight sees the presentation of the annual St John Ambulance and Rescue Service awards, and we’ll be there to talk to some of the individual recipients and hear their stories.

We’ll also be finding out about road works near St Sampson’s School caused by a burst water main and catching up on the progress of this year’s FairTrade Fortnight.

As well as the hill climb story, the sports pages tomorrow will include a report on tonight’s Priaulx League matches, which see the top two in the table both in action. Current leaders Bels take on North at the Track, while second-place Vale Rec play Rovers at the Corbet Field. Both matches kick-off at 7.30.

And there’ll be a preview of the Guernsey women’s hockey team’s quarter finals match in the EH Vase competition, against Burnt Ash in Kent on Saturday.
