ISLANDERS will be able to enjoy a full gym workout outdoors following the installation of new fitness equipment at Delancey Park.

The new facility, sponsored by Kings Life, with the installation project managed by the Long Port Group, comes as part of the Admiral de Saumarez Trust’s redevelopment of the park.

Long Port’s Mark Ogier hoped that the new addition would play its part in revitalising the area.

‘For a long time Delancey Park didn’t have the investment it needed – the playing grounds began looking old,’ he said.

‘We hope these projects give the park the investment it deserves.’

Hopefully they will employ CCTV to deter the inevitable vandals.

Anybody care to guess what the next headline about this open air £20,000 gym might be?

I can guess the last sentence …’Police would welcome any information from the public on this matter’

This is possibly the worse investment I have seen in improving public facilities and health. A better investment would be to install climbing bars. Very disappointed I expected better. I would rather take my 8 year old brother to climb some scaffolding than use this pathetic equiptment.
