Staff at Waitrose celebrated a 17% bonus yesterday – the equivalent to nine weeks’ pay.

The announcement was made in-store at 9.30am and benefits all staff.

Operating profit across Waitrose nationally was up £31.7m. on last year to £292.3m.

Waitrose Admiral Park branch manager Allen Edwards said its shops in Guernsey have had a very strong year of trading.

‘We’re thrilled with the warm reception we continue to receive from shoppers in the island,’ he said.
