A HOMEOWNER was left in shock yesterday after a tree fell on his roof.
Horace Bailey, 83, was in his wheelchair in the front room of his Rue a L’Eau house in King’s Mills when the poplar tree came crashing down just after 11.30am.
‘I heard a heck of a thump,’ he said. ‘I had no idea what it was. I went to the porch to have a look and that’s when I saw the tree.’
He did not know how much damage had been caused to the roof but said it was inevitable that some tiles would have to be replaced.
‘It doesn’t look too bad,’ added Mr Bailey, who has lived in the road for 45 years.

Voice For Victims
Voice for Victims is a campaign aimed at promoting the rights of those affected by child sexual abuse.
We were very lucky last night when a thirty foot leylandii tree, heavily overburdened with snow, crashed down in the entrance to our car park.
A tree surgeon couldn’t have done a better job because it fell directly in line with the driveway missing two extensions, a parked car and a camper van.
The only problem now is getting in and out of the only entrance to one of the flats which is completely blocked by the branches.
We`re just waiting for our landlord to get the tree fellers in to clear it.
Happy days.
