DRIVERS should leave abandoned vehicles where they are until the snow and ice has melted, Guernsey Police Chief Inspector Nigel Taylor has said.

He was inspecting roads with the Fire & Rescue Service yesterday and found most arterial routes were clear.

‘People should stick to the main road, as these are more easily passable,’ he said. ‘The smaller roads are much more difficult.’

Chief Inspector Taylor said owners should not try to collect their cars too quickly.

‘They should only try to move the vehicles if they are happy to,’ he said.

‘As the snow starts to thaw, we will start to contact owners.’

He said no parking tickets would be issued for now.
