Skills Guernsey to launch back to work manifesto

SUPPORTING people back into work and the roll out of an employability skills programme are among the priorities of the Skills Guernsey group for 2013, it announced yesterday.

Skills Guernsey, which was launched last April, is run by representatives of three States departments – Education, Social Security and Commerce and Employment – with workstreams driven by the business-led Skills Guernsey Implementation Group.

It will launch a ‘Manifesto for Action’ to support people out of education, work or training as part of its efforts to support people into or back into work.

Also planned is a roll out of a pilot employability skills programme and to develop a sector-by-sector skills gap analysis and review of training.

Education minister Deputy Robert Sillars, pictured, chairman of the Skills Guernsey Policy Group, said that so far its efforts had proved successful.
