GIRL GUIDES are joining forces with the RSPB as part of a nationwide initiative that aims to get them more involved with nature, the environment and conservation.

Rustle, Bustle and Squeak is the new resource and includes specials badges that are awarded to girls for taking part in activities linked to the RSPB’s steps for nature campaign or for fundraising.

Solange Rebours, chief commissioner of girlguiding in the south-west of England,  and executive manager Jenni Freeth travelled over to the island to help start the initiative.

‘We hope it enthuses the girls to get involved with nature and generally the outside world,’ Mrs Freeth said.  ‘We are really excited to be working with the RSPB – it’s two big charities coming together and seeing how we can link together.’
