Be safe, says Lt-Governor as he opens world class facility

THREE decades since it was first envisaged, Guernsey’s first and only proper dedicated skate park opened to the public on Saturday.
Almost 300 people turned out for the event at the former toddlers’ playground at Beau Sejour.
The Jubilee Skate Park was officially opened after a ceremony conducted by Guernsey Xtreme Sports Association chairman, the Culture and Leisure minister Mike O’Hara – who has been championing the cause for nearly 12 years – and Lt-Governor Air Marshal Peter Walker.
In his speech, Deputy O’Hara said he never doubted that the project would come to fruition. It was something of which the island could be proud, he said.
‘This long-awaited facility puts us up there with the best skate parks in Europe.’
