Mont Cuet fire prompts Longue Hougue move call
Tuesday 16th July 2013, 10:00AM BST.
A SMALL fire at Mont Cuet’s green waste processing site on Sunday has prompted a request to move some of the operation to Longue Hougue.
States Works is currently discussing the possibility of the expansion with Environmental Health, which licences waste activities.
Green waste dropped off at Mont Cuet is processed into soil conditioner.
This is achieved by shredding the material and laying it out in long rows to compost and mature over a number of months.
States Works said moving some of the operation to Longue Hougue would with an interim measure help clear a backlog of waste – it is currently running at full capacity.
