Push for complaints watchdog continues

THE Policy Council could be forced to investigate the cost of creating an independent body to judge complaints about the non-disclosure of information.
Deputy Chris Green has submitted an amendment asking the council to consider the feasibility, desirability and potential cost of a watchdog and report back to the States in July next year.
His move follows the refusal of the Policy Council to incorporate such a provision in its report for a new policy for access to information, which will be debated in the States this month.
But Deputy Green, pictured, hoped ministers would change their mind after proper consideration.
