Vale Castle rocks to Earth Fair beat

HUNDREDS of music lovers headed to the Vale Castle yesterday for the return of what’s claimed to be the island’s most anticipated music festival.
Punk legends Buzzcocks headlined the event, while other acts such as Vin Garbutt, The Last of the Light Brigade and Sons of the Desert also proved popular.
There were six stages around the grounds, including a busking platform.
For the second time this year, the audience was not allowed to take alcohol into the castle. In addition, a number of alcohol-free zones had been set up around the Bridge and Bordeaux area by Guernsey Police.
Martyn Henley-Roussel, 52, was with his 10-year-old son, Dexter.
‘It’s the first time we’ve been here and we think it’s great,’ he said. ‘There’s such a variety of music on and it’s great value for money.’
Dexter said he loved the rock ‘n’ roll music.
‘It would be so cool to be on stage when I’m older.’
Sue Walsh had come from Jersey with the MerKaBa Tribe and wore a colourful headpiece which she had bought at an event at home.
‘I think this is such a good festival, it is fabulous and it’s very affordable.’
