Vitesse back in action on Thursday
Tuesday 27th August 2013, 5:03PM BST.
CONDOR Vitesse should be back in service on Thursday.
The high-speed catamaran was already undergoing repairs to one of its four engines when another developed problems during a crossing from Weymouth to the Channel Islands on Sunday afternoon.
The ship was forced to turn back to the port and Condor arranged another crossing from Poole.
The Vitesse is now down to two engines and is not permitted to sail.
A spokesman for the company said the engine trouble was ‘wear and tear’ and Condor Express is doing an extra sailing everyday from Weymouth for passengers booked on to the Vitesse crossings to and from Poole.
‘We have got the same number of sailings, but it is one boat doing the work of two.’
