Bus meeting tonight
Thursday 5th September 2013, 1:10PM BST.
BUS passengers have been urged to make their views known at tonight’s consultation meeting about proposals for a new winter timetable .
It takes place at 6.30pm in Beau Sejour’s Cambridge and Delancey rooms. Environment minister Roger Domaille said it was vitally important people engaged.
The proposals for a new winter bus schedule would come into effect on 7 October.
‘We’re in a consultation process and we will look to take all comments on board,’ he said.
‘That doesn’t mean to say we will agree or if we do agree that we can deliver. However, it’s vitally important that people put their views across.’
The consultation meeting comes on what would have been the second day of a two-day drive strike, had the industrial action not been averted by an emergency meeting between the operator and the union.
‘Obviously I’m pleased to see that it was resolved – I’m just disappointed that it got to the last minute stage,’ he said.
‘It caused worry and concern for a lot of parents looking to get their children to school and a lot of people who rely on the buses.
Deputy Domaille expected people would want to discuss the disruption.
‘The order of the day is to discuss the proposals for the winter timetable,’ he said. ‘However I do intend for the meeting to be an open meeting.
‘Obviously there will be some things that I may have to say I can’t answer.’
